School basketball team elebrating

Interscholastic athletics is a vital component of the health and physical education program and therefore is an integral part of the district’s total educational program.
This experience is offered to as many students as possible.  A well-coordinated athletics program is vitally important to the morale of the school community.  Interscholastic competition is a forum through which students may push themselves and their limitations, allowing them to develop self-confidence and enhance their self-esteem.

Each staff member involved in our athletics program possesses a unique opportunity to teach positive life skills and values. Therefore, this educational experience demands highly qualified coaches.  Our coaching staff cares about our athletes.  They encourage both academic achievement and character development.  They believe that a truly educated individual is intellectually knowledgeable as well as physically educated.  All of our coaches serve as excellent, positive role models for our students.

The number of victories is only one criterion when determining a season’s success.  Guiding student athletes to attain maximum potential is the ultimate goal.  Students participating in interscholastic athletics learn about hard work, reliability, commitment, teamwork, responsibility and sportsmanship.  With that in mind, when your son/daughter chooses to participate in one of our sports programs, we feel he/she will have made a commitment to certain responsibilities and obligations.  This handbook will acquaint you with some specific policies that are necessary for a well-organized program of interscholastic athletics.
